Days grow short.
Slanted Solar rays
offer thin warmth.
Autumn begins.
Short days send northern birds.
Chickadees and titmice share
their harvest with warblers
who join their flocks.
Cicadas cease their buzz.
Singing crickets rule the day.
Katydids command the night,
Repeat scandalous gossip.
