Driving down Broad Street this afternoon, I saw a homeless fellow carrying an oversized backpack, filled with what must have been everything he has in this world. Tied to the back of his pack, a rubber boot swung left to right with the rhythm of his stride. There was also a round case which looked to be about the right size to hold a Frisbee. I had no idea what was in the case, but it was the boot which intrigued me. It had no mate, and continued to swing back and forth. It thought that if he continued to carry the boot in that manner, he will eventually kick himself in the ass.
So it is with many of us. We carry burdens which way us down and sway from side to side. They take our minds off the task at hand. Eventually they will kick us in the ass.
